One of the most common questions we get asked is, "When should I bring my child in for their first dental visit?"
As soon as your baby gets their first tooth, they need attention and care. The American Dental Association recommends that you bring in your baby for their first visit soon after their first tooth comes in. We typically see children for their first visits around age 2, but also see many children before the age of 1. If you have any concerns or questions about your baby's teeth, we would recommend scheduling their first appointment before the age of 2.
What should you expect at your child's first visit? Our main goal is to provide a fun, friendly, and educational first visit. We really want the first visit to be a good memory for your child, since their first experience is very important. We like to make it very fun, whether it's giving the child a "ride" in the dental chair, showing them their face on our tv screen, showing them the "magic straw," and showing them our water squirter. :) We hand out an informational brochure at the end that has information on tooth eruption, caring for your child's teeth, etc., as well as a new toothbrush, floss, and toothpaste for your little one to get excited about.
We care about your child's well-being at White Bear Smiles, and will do everything we can to make their first visit a success. Don't hesitate to call with any questions or concerns. We would love to get your child scheduled for their first visit today!
