What are the qualities of a good family dentist?

If it’s been a while since your family last changed dentists, you might feel a little overwhelmed at the prospect of choosing a new treatment team.

Determining whether a dentist is the right choice for you is a highly personal choice. Only you can know if someone is a good fit for your lifestyle, but there are a few qualities you can look for if you want to choose an exceptional dental provider.

When you’re considering making the switch, consider asking yourself the following questions:

How do I feel about this dental office culture? Do our personalities seem to mesh well with the dentist(s) and their dental staff?

Does this dental office offer extra amenities, such as televisions, headphones, or blankets to make my visit more comfortable?

Is this dentist good with children? Do the treatment staff seem to enjoy working with pediatric patients?

Does offering gentle dentistry seem to be a priority to this dental office? Do I feel comfortable about the care I would receive?

How is the dentist’s communication? Will they explain procedures and treatment options thoroughly?

Does this dental office offer modern dental technology that will make my treatment more comfortable and more convenient?

As a provider of family dentistry, we understand that there’s a lot to consider when choosing your family’s next dentist! If you ever have questions about our procedures or the quality of service you would receive from our caring dentists, we invite you to contact us for more information.

Do I need to take my children to a separate pediatric dentist in White Bear Lake?

Not at all! Here at our dental office, we’ve been treating children for years. When we say we’re a family dentist, we genuinely mean we can provide excellent treatment to each member of your family.

Your children are always welcome here. We can begin our children’s dentistry treatment when your children reach their toddler years and have the majority of their baby teeth.

When we treat children, our goal is to start slow and first get them acquainted with the dental office and being in the exam chair. Then, once they feel more at ease with their surroundings, we can provide essential pediatric dentistry services such as:

  • Fluoride rinses
  • Dental exams
  • Teeth cleanings
  • Sealants for molars

group of young children playing outside l dentist white bear lakeWe pride ourselves in offering gentle dentistry in White Bear Lake, and we promise that our dental team will treat your little one in the same way we would treat our children. We encourage all parents to bring their children in starting at a young age so we can help them develop excellent dental hygiene habits early on.

One of the most significant advantages of bringing your son or daughter to our dental practice is that we can grow with them and provide treatment into their adult life. You won’t have to find a new dentist for your child once they’re no longer considered a “pediatric” patient, and they can stay with us for many years to come.

When your child is ready for their next dental check-up, please call us!

Can White Bear Smiles see my entire family at once?

Typically, yes. As your family dentist in White Bear Lake, we want to make it easy for your whole family to get the care they need under one convenient roof in as few trips as possible. We know it’s easier when your entire family can knock their dental appointments out in one day, so we do everything we can to make scheduling your treatment easy and beneficial for you.

Our dental practice is open Monday through Thursday, beginning at 7:30 each morning. If multiple family members want to schedule their teeth cleanings for the same day, please contact our front desk by calling (651) 426-8998. We will always do our best to schedule overlapping dental appointments for family members.

This is the Dental Office you want!

I can not speak more highly of this office. They are the entire package! The front desk is organized, kind, and helpful! The doctor has earned my trust with every cleaning and procedure. He is also very personable, knowledgeable, and very thorough. The assistants and hygienists feel like your best friends and are a joy to your day.

Another call out is billing can be so complicated. Does insurance cover this? What am I responsible for? Gosh, that's expensive, etc...BUT here, they do all the leg work for you and make it super clear and honor what they say. They also work with you if that's where you are at.

Lastly, they always make time for me if I need to get in and get something done. Scheduling is easy and accommodating. I recently was at another dental office for invisalign before they started offering it at White Bear Smiles, and they were going to complete a crown for me in 3 visits, where White Bear Smiles did it in 1 visit and also 2 weeks sooner.

Stop searching. This is the Dental Office you want!

Family Dentistry Technology

Digital Radiography at White Bear Smiles in White Bear Lake, MN

Digital Radiography

Dental X-rays are one of our most valuable diagnostic tools. Our dental team recognizes that patients often have concerns about dental x-rays and the radiation involved. Your safety is always our number one concern, and that's one of the reasons why we made the switch to digital x-rays. While dental x-rays already used an incredibly low amount of radiation, digital x-rays are able to cut that even further – by about 80%!

Digital x-rays have a number of other advantages as well. They are available for viewing almost instantly, and we can zoom in, enhance, and rotate the image as needed to get a better view and show you what we see. Additionally, they can be stored right in your electronic patient record for easy retrieval and comparison. Plus, the sensor is so much more comfortable than the old x-ray film!

Which general dentistry services are available at your dental practice?
